More than 120 people attended the 3rd LIFE-IP AdaptInGR Info-Day for adaptation in the Region of Ionian Islands
The 3rd Info-Day was dedicated to the adaptation of the Region of Ionian Islands and was successfully held online on 6 July 2022, in the framework of the LIFE-IP AdaptInGR project.
The Info-Day was opened by the Regional Vice Governor for Environment of the Region of Ionian Islands, Mr. Spyridon Ioannou, the Alternate Director for Climate Change & Air Quality of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Mr. Kyriakos Psychas, the Governor of West Macedonia, Mr George Kasapidis, on behalf of EN.P.E. and, on behalf of K.E.D.E., Mr. Gavriil Koygianos.
The Regional Adaptation Action Plan for Ionian Islands was presented, followed by presentations on climate change impacts on the Ionian Islands’ key environmental and economic sectors such as:
- Coastal zone.
- Water resources.
- Tourism.
- Agricultural sector.
- Energy.
- Biodiversity.
- Cultural heritage.
- Innovative technologies
The Info-day attracted approx. 120 people, who actively participated through written questions to the speakers. In addition, the participants had the chance to watch the short film that received the Special Award in the 1st LIFE-IP AdaptInGR national school competition and the documentary film “Άνυδρη Γη” by Vaggelis Efthimiou, showing how climate change could increase desertification and drought.

The Info-day was organized by the Association of Greek Regions (ΕΝ.P.Ε.), the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (K.Ε.D.Ε.), the Elliniki Etairia, Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage (ΕLLΕΤ) and the Region of Ionian Islands.
