The LIFE-IP AdaptInGR project participated in the 2nd International Laboratory of the European LIFE ASTI project. The Workshop under the title "Urban Heat Island and Heat Resilience: Networking for Future Strategy", was held online on October 14, 2020.
YPEN’s Project Manager for the LIFE-IP AdaptInGR project, presented the project and all the individual actions aiming to strengthen the implementation of the National Strategy and Regional Plans for Adaptation to Climate Change, with a strong focus on the actions related to the urban environment.
The participants had the opportunity to get informed regarding the issues related to the subject of the workshop by representatives of various organizations coming from Greece and the European Union.
The workshop, held by LIFE ASTI, was attended by a total of 170 representatives of Universities and research institutes, local authorities, non-governmental organizations and private companies from 10 EU Member States. (Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Spain, China, Bulgaria, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium). In addition to the distinguished guest speakers who gave presentations on their scientific subject, the results of the LIFE ASTI project were presented as well as other European projects (most of them LIFE projects). Participants had the opportunity to discuss further the issue of the Urban Thermal Island and its impact on human health, as well as the need to get the problem properly managed by the relevant local authorities.
